Climate change is real, and it’s happening now. Smallholder farmers in Tunisia are among those who are suffering most with the effects of climate change, but who contribute least to its acceleration. For these Tunisian farmers, climate change means long periods of drought; leading to the fruits of their date palms becoming increasingly dry. To minimize waste and adapt to the effects of the climate crisis, smallholder farmers of Beni Ghreb in Tunisia, are grinding their dates into a sweet powder – which has been used to naturally sweeten this chocolate bar! The additional fair trade income farmers earn, on top of their wages, allows them to invest in sustainable measures for the future; for example, solar pumps for watering their date palms.
As with all of our fair trade and organic chocolate, you'll never find any emulsifiers, cheap oils, or artificial colours or preservatives in our chocolate! Plus, the packaging has the needs of the environment at its heart too, as it’s fully compostable.
