Born from a belief in simple, sustainable clothing, Thought first appeared in Australia in 1995. It wasn’t long before David and John brought Thought to the UK in 2002, with pop-up shops sprouting up on Portobello Road and Camden Lock market. By 2005 Thought had a website, an office HQ, a dedicated warehouse, and a growing team of creative clothing entrepreneurs — taking Thought on an exciting journey into new fabrics, new recycled materials, and the future of contemporary fashion.

Part of what makes Thought truly special is their dedication to natural, organic, and recycled fibres. It may take more time and consideration, but by understanding nature’s super fibres and transforming them into beautiful pieces for statement wardrobes, they’re saving the planet and promoting the appreciation of good quality clothing that should see you through decades.

When Thought first started out in 1995, hemp was the go-to fabric, due to its wonderfully textured finish and the fact that it gets softer with every use. It’s the perfect fabric for creating eco-friendly clothing to last a lifetime. Since then, Thought have expanded their fabric library to include other superhero materials, like sustainably grown bamboo, organic cotton, sustainably and humanely sourced wool, and innovative new fibres like tree-friendly tencel (you’d never guess that it’s recycled from wood), and rayon, made from tree pulp. Even the dyes used are Azo-free (it’s missing the harmful carcinogens), and the finishes are designed to be as gentle to the environment as possible.

Though Thought are still intimately small — you can find Thought’s innovative eco-clothing in over 1,000 shops around the world. It seems that conscious clothing is contagious.
