Posh Percy Penguin Doorstop
Our handsome Percy doorstop is back for 2017. Handmade by traditional textile artists in Bangladesh, this penguin doorstop is made in small batches for a fair trade cooperative. Last year saw Percy’s debut with Traidcraft and he caused quite the sensation – selling out early in the season. This autumn we’ve taken a waddle of Percys under our wing, ready to be sent to new homes.
Sewn from eco-friendly jute, this chunky animal doorstop is filled with sand to hold your door open safely. With two little orange feet, two flapping wings, hand embroidered eyes, and a dapper spotted bow tie – Percy’s ready for to meet you.

Hundreds of families in Bangladesh rely on jute for a steady income. CORR – The Jute Works was set up in 1973 as a charitable trust, providing women weavers with the training and skills needed to make locally-grown jute products in the safety and comfort of their own homes.
"We are very proud of what my mother did. It would have been quite impossible for me to go to university if there was only my father’s income. I want to stay in the village and teach the children.”
