This sweet-smelling, Great Taste Award-winning jam is a real treat for the taste buds. This delicious spread has been made by Meru Herbs, using 100% natural, hand-selected fruit, ripened under the balmy African sun.
Meru Herbs is a female-led organisation in rural Kenya and is dedicated to fair trade principles, with a clear mission to empower women, alleviate poverty and improve standards of living. This forward-thinking organisation gives smallholder farmers the opportunity to sell their produce and improve their income by supplying directly to Meru Herbs. Up to 100 local women are employed to prepare fruits and herbs, and make the most amazing, all-natural sauces and jams.
This rich and full-bodied jam boasts the unmistakable tang of hibiscus, with absolutely no artificial colourings or preservatives – making it as good for you as it is for the smallholder farmers it’s come from. This would make the perfect gift, or simply a fair trade treat for your own household.

Meru’s herbal teas are grown along a stretch of the Kithino river in Kenya. They’re passionate about growing their high-grade herbs as naturally, organically, and ethically as possible. Everything that sprouts is grown in perfect balance with people and the earth.
Meru Herbs offers secure long-term livelihoods for growers in the local area, buying their greens in return for a fair price. They support the growers with training, raise the profile of women growers, and educate local communities about the importance of organic farming methods. At the moment they’re focusing on creating exceptionally fair and hand-harvested teas, sauces, jams, and chillis – but who knows what they’ll grow next?
