CreArte was established in 2000. It works with around 400 individual producers, who are organised in cooperatives, artisan associations or family workshops. Its main objective is to improve living conditions of small Guatemalan handicraft producers.

It has a programme of capacity building, which includes Product Development and Quality Control, and extra support (organisation, leadership) for the organisations and communities the producers are part of.
