Oven baked and salted cashews from India and peanuts from Malwai and Nicaragua, brought to you by Liberation.

Liberation Foods is the UK's only Fair Trade, farmer-owned nut company.

Liberation buy their Fairtrade nuts from 11 Fairtrade co-operatives in Malawi, India, El Salvador, Peru, Nicaragua and Bolivia, who jointly own a 44% share in the Fairtrade nut company. Ownership of the company means the farmers have an active role in its governance and more power within their supply chain.

In addition to the share in the business the farmers receive the Fairtrade minimum price to ensure that farmers can earn a decent living from growing their nuts. The Fairtrade Premium is for farmer organisations to invest in community projects. Recent projects range from health care and education facilities to tools and equipment to grow even better nuts to solar powered fences to protect cashew trees whilst not hurting the endangered elephants that like to munch on them!
