Zaytoun almonds are sourced from the Palestine Fair Trade Association and Canaan Fair Trade, harvested across 15 villages in the Jenin area of the West Bank. Zabuba is one of many villages in the Jenin area which works closely with organisations such as the Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee (PARC) to produce almonds for international markets.
Villagers in Zabuba have seen a sharp drop in income over the years as they continue to lose land to the Israeli occupation. A village falling very close to the green line, Zabuba has lost over 20,000 dunums of land to nearby settlements and now the apartheid wall.
For many villagers who previously travelled to Israel for work, this has become almost impossible due to the building of the wall, therefore they are now almost entirely reliant on income from their remaining agricultural land. The income from the Zaytoun almonds goes towards supporting marginalised farming communities in Palestine.
