Fair Trade Producer Details
This is a family-owned business that started in 1987 with the objective of providing a sustainable livelihood for people in the local area. Salay is a small coastal town on Mindanao island, with few job opportunities. SHAPII is now a major employer. As well as having job security and good working conditions, the artisans can join a co-op to buy basic commodities at low prices.

A linked charity, the SHAPII Foundation, organises a range of community benefits e.g. helps local children with educational expenses, provides computer training and free internet facilities. SHAPII cards are now sold in Marks & Spencer stores as part of a Traidcraft-branded range which also includes cards from Swajan in Bangladesh.
